Last Thursday Everycare (Central Hants) Ltd had a stall on Winchester Market. We attracted lots of visitors and enjoyed communicating with many local people about the Home Care and Live-in Care services that we provide. We also got the opportunity to talk about our current employment opportunities.

A big thank you to our wonderful staff that came down to support us.

We had a very successful and fun day and hope to do this again in the future.

Dark Chocolate Easter Eggs for The Elderly

Dark Chocolate Easter Eggs for The Elderly

Other

There are many studies online that provide different nutritional guidance when it comes to improving and maintaining the health and general wellbeing of the elderly. As it is Easter, we wanted to draw your attention to particular good news about Dark Chocolate.

Dark Chocolate for some people may be considered as a lavish and indulgent treat. However, now is the ideal time to treat yourself or a loved one to a delicious dark chocolate Easter Egg. After all, there are studies out there about the health benefits from Dark Chocolate.

Here is why you might treat yourself this Easter:

Natural Mood Enhancement

Dark Chocolate is known to stimulate your body’s production of endorphins. Endorphins are a type of chemical that your neurons use to communicate with each other. They interact with receptors in our brains that can trigger a positive and happy feeling.

Chocolate also has another mood enhancing chemical in it called Phenylethylalanine. Phenylethylalanine gives you the feelings that are associated to those of falling in love. It also can combine with a chemical called dopamine that is already present in our brain to act as an anti-depressant.

Brain Power

It has been found that dark chocolate contains flavanols (a natural compound found in plants) that can improve the blood flow to our brains. Increased blood flow may not only improve your memory but also increase your attention span and improve your reaction times.

One study even discovered that older people consuming more flavanols scored better in some cognitive tests.

Antioxidant

Organic compounds such as flavanols and polyphenol found in dark chocolate can function as antioxidants in our bodies.  Antioxidants are really important as they protect our tissues and cells from the damage of free radicals.

Reliance on online studies is not always best for us but in the case of Dark Chocolate use it as a good excuse to treat yourself or your elderly loved one to an egg this Easter.

Live-in Technology Brings Peace of Mind

Live-in Technology Brings Peace of Mind

24 Hour Care Care Homes Family Care Health Care Home Care Live-in

For the past year, the team at Everycare Winchester have been working hard to implement a new system that will transform the way we are able to deliver care, for our customers and their friends and family, and after much testing, we’re delighted to announce its official launch.

As the world starts to embrace digital technology in ever more diverse areas of life, overlooking the obvious benefits that new technologies can bring to the care sector would be remiss of us. At the same time, we are passionate believers in there being no substitute for real, face-to-face relationships when providing care. Taking both these points into consideration, we spent a considerable amount of time looking at how we could utilise emerging technologies to supplement and improve our existing service, without undermining the special relationships we have forged with our clients. Pass, created by Everylife Technologies, stood out as a system that will do just that.

Pass‘s ability to create tailored care plans for all our care and live-in care clients is just the start.

The system’s unique array of features will benefit our clients and their loved ones in many different ways, some of which we’ve outlined below:

  • Customised care plans are created digitally, enabling us to go paperless, thereby reducing the opportunities for error.
  • Instant medical and health updates are sent to the client and their relatives, ensuring they stay informed and have peace of mind.
  • Our clients and their relatives can access their tailored care plans online, empowering them to make changes if the need should arise.
  • Care workers are able to report back to the office real-time with feedback on tasks and activities and make amendments to suit the client’s requirements.
  • Book visits that fit with our clients’ schedules.
  • Alerts are sent immediately to management and relatives if visits are behind schedule or have been missed.
  • Medication is controlled online, enabling us to check that the right medication is being taken, at the right time.

Not only will our implementation of Pass enable us to improve our in-home and live-in care services, but it will also bring significant peace of mind to our clients and their family and friends who care for them.
