24 Hour Care Event Family Care Health Care Home Care Live-in

We were delighted to host the first ever TechFest65 last week at the Winchester Discovery Centre. The event was exclusively for the over 65s and designed to help them become more confident using modern technology.

The Everycare team welcomed a host of Winchester residents, all eager to learn more about how the use of smartphones, tablets, laptops, social media and apps can revolutionise their lives. Attendees were treated to a number of technology presentations, live demonstrations, along with the opportunity to quiz the experts, with Vodafone and Carphone Warehouse team members on hand, for one-to-one Q&As and demos. The morning also gave attendees the chance to network over tea, coffee and cake.

Mike Frizzell, Managing Director of Everycare (Central Hants), said “TechFest65 was a great opportunity for the older population of Winchester to learn new skills. Getting to grips with new technology isn’t easy but we hope that attendees are now able to go off and demonstrate their newly-founded tech skills to impress their grandkids!”

TechFest65 is already helping the elderly population of Winchester become more tech-savvy. Neil Sackley, BBC Radio Solent presenter, speaks with attendees. Listen below.

Such was the success of the event, that plans are already afoot for TechFest65 2018!

TechFest65, an event organised by Everycare Winchester, is coming to the Winchester Discovery Centre on Friday 13th October, to help the over 65s become more confident using modern technology. Fancy surprising the kids and grandchildren with new-found tech skills?

According to recent Age UK statistics, there are 6 million older people who have never even used the internet yet. Inspired by statistic like these, TechFest65 was conceived to help the over 65 population of Winchester get the most out of new technology. Hosted at the Winchester Discovery Centre, Jewry Street on Friday 13th October at 10am, the free event gives attendees the opportunity to learn more about how to use smartphones, tablets, apps, social media and more. Attendees will also be able to participate in free demonstrations provided by Vodafone and Carphone Warehouse, whilst enjoying tea, coffee and cake.

The morning, which is totally free, will run from 10am – 12:30pm and is available to anyone over the age of 65. Everycare Winchester hope that attendees will learn how get more out of the technology available to them, helping them connect with friends and family, use the internet safely and feel more included in modern society.

Tickets can be booked through www.techfest65.co.uk, by emailing booking@techfest65.co.uk or phoning Everycare on 01962 842548.

We hope to see you there!
